How do I create a Sanctuary?
Choose Create a Sanctuary, then add the person’s name, life dates, and the details you would like to begin with. Your Sanctuary starts as a draft so you can prepare it before publishing.
What is a Sanctuary Steward?
The Steward is the person responsible for the Sanctuary. They protect its privacy, keep its core details accurate, manage contribution settings, and review new contributions when approval is required.
Is my Sanctuary public or private?
You choose the visibility in Sanctuary Settings. Private Sanctuaries are limited to authorized members. Unlisted Sanctuaries can be viewed by anyone with the direct link, while Public Sanctuaries can be viewed by anyone.
Can I change the person’s details later?
Yes. A Steward or Administrator can update the remembered person’s name, life dates, and memorial portrait from Sanctuary Settings. These changes do not rewrite memories contributed by other people.
How do I invite someone?
Open your Sanctuary and choose Invite. Enter the person’s details, create their private invitation link, and send that link directly to them. Depending on your settings, contributors may also be allowed to invite others.
What can contributors add?
Contributors can share their own written memories and photographs. Each contribution remains connected to the person who shared it, helping the Sanctuary reflect many genuine perspectives.
Can I review contributions before they appear?
Yes. In Sanctuary Settings, a Steward can require new contributions to be reviewed. When this is enabled, submitted memories and photographs wait for a Steward or Administrator to approve or decline them.
Can a contribution be removed?
Yes. Contributors can remove their own memories and photographs. A Steward or Administrator can also remove a contribution from the Sanctuary when needed.
What if I no longer want the Sanctuary to be visible?
The primary Steward can archive an active Sanctuary. Its content is preserved, outside visitors lose access, and authorized members can still enter it. The Steward can restore it later.
What happens if I request deletion by mistake?
Deletion is not immediate. The Sanctuary enters a protected recovery period and outside access is stopped. The primary Steward can cancel the request during that period and restore the Sanctuary to its previous state.
How do I report something concerning?
Use Report a concern from the Sanctuary. Reports are sent to MemorySanctuary for review; submitting a report does not automatically remove content or decide the outcome.
